The SP+ Fund supports international research collaborations with Kyoto University’s strategic partner universities including the University of Zurich. Through this funding, Kyoto University intends to further deepen sustainable research exchange with strategic partnership universities (SP) such as the University of Zurich and support progressive international research collaboration. The funding includes support for joint workshops, exchange activities, and early-career researcher (ECR) initiatives. There are two programs:
General Program
- Support: Funding for international collaborative research projects with SP institutions (Bilateral or Multilateral).
- Project Period: July 2025 – March 2026
- Eligible Applicants: Full-time faculty members at Kyoto University (including fixed-term program-specific faculty with supervisor permission).
- Funding Amount: Up to 2,000,000 JPY per project
- Deadline: April 24, 2025
ECR Program
- Support: Travel expenses for early-career researchers (ECRs) to engage in research at SP institutions or to invite ECRs from SP institutions to Kyoto University.
- Travel Period: July 2025 – March 2026
- Eligible Applicants: Full-time faculty members at Kyoto University; applications for graduate students must be via their supervisor.
- Eligible Support Recipients (ECRs): Master's/Doctoral students, Assistant Professors, or Research Scholars within 10 years post-degree (with some exceptions).
- Funding Amount: Up to 200,000 JPY (National Taiwan University) or 800,000 JPY (other SP institutions)
- Deadline: April 24, 2025
