The University of Zurich (UZH) is advancing international education through its participation in the Una Europa alliance. As the first Swiss university to join a European Universities Alliance in 2022, UZH has been fostering innovative collaborations with leading European universities to jointly develop cutting-edge educational formats and mobility opportunities. UZH has welcomed 300 delegates to Zurich for the three-day Una Europa General Assembly. Centered on the theme “One Earth, One Future”, this gathering highlighted a commitment to interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary collaboration among universities and other partners. Una Europa is an alliance of 11 European research-intensive universities, including UZH.

The concept of a European Degree emerges from a rise in joint study programs initiated by European university alliances, featuring curricula from multiple universities and culminating in a joint qualification. In a recent interview conducted by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI), Annika Martin from UZH's Teaching Development Office provided valuable insight into the ED-AFFICHE pilot project. 

The University of Zurich (UZH) is set to embark on a significant academic journey by joining the Una Europa Joint Bachelor of Arts in European Studies (BAES) from 2025. This initiative aims to provide students with a holistic educational experience that embraces various European cultures and academic fields.

“Ag tōgāil ollscoil don todhchaī” – this is Irish and stands for “building the university of the future”. Representatives of UZH, together with members of ten other universities have gathered to work towards this goal at the biannual Una Europa General Assembly, hosted by the University College Dublin (UCD).
