UZH representatives discuss future collaborations with the Italian delegation.

UZH welcomed the Italian Ambassador Gian Lorenzo Cornado, Consul General Mario Baldi and Scientific Attaché Dr. Luca Valenziano to discuss current collaborations and explore new opportunities with Italian academic and research institutions.

UZH, Italy and European university networks

As Switzerland’s largest university, UZH maintains numerous collaborations with universities in Italy. Notably, UZH is closely linked with the University of Bologna through the university network Una Europa, and with the University of Milano through the League of European Research Universities (LERU). These partnerships promote joint research and teaching initiatives.

“Italianità” at UZH

The Italian influence at UZH is both significant and vibrant. Currently, there are nearly 600 degree-seeking students from Italy, making it the third largest group of foreign students at the university. Additionally, UZH is home to almost 500 Italian employees – from professors to administrative staff. With over 800 students from Ticino, the Italian-speaking community at UZH is substantial. Moreover, the UZH Department of Romance Studies plays a crucial role in promoting knowledge on the Italian culture, history and language.
