Una Europa is launching the Una Europa-Africa Partnership Seed Funding Call 2023!  Co-developed by Una Europa and a number of African universities, the call encourages long-term collaboration among the academic communities of the Una Europa partner universities (incl the University of Zurich) and participating African universities.

Una Europa is an alliance with 11 leading research universities. The University of Zurich joined the alliance in May 2023.

Call topics:

The Seed Funding Call will support joint projects in education, research and innovation, and societal outreach across Una Europa's six Focus Areas: Cultural Heritage, Data Science & Artificial Intelligence, Europe and the World, Future Materials, One Health, and Sustainability.

Target group:

Researchers (established or early career) from the University of Zurich as member of Una Europa, as well as the following participating African universities:

• Eduardo Mondlane University, Mozambique
• Kampala International University, Uganda
• Makerere University, Uganda
• University of Ghana, Ghana
• University of Johannesburg, South Africa
• University of Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo
• University of Nairobi, Kenya
• University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa

Full eligibility details will be published online in the Call text on 26 October.

Mobility component:

A mobility fellowship embedded in the Seed Funding scheme will support an established researchers at one of the participating African universities to bring their expertise to an Una Europa coordinating university in the role of chair. Professional development opportunities for early-career researchers will be an integral feature of successful projects.
