The international university network Universitas 21 is growing: Universitas Gadjah Mada, one of the leading research-focused universities in Indonesia, becomes a member as of 1 August 2023.
The addition of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) represents the increasing focus of the U21 network on broadening geographic representation within the membership. The network now comprises 29 research-led institutions in 21 countries across the globe. Members collaborate, exchange knowledge and work together on an array of projects across educational innovation, student experience and researcher engagement.
The University of Zurich has joined U21 in 2017 and is the only Swiss university member. The network enables UZH to encourage greater levels of student and staff mobility, develop deeper links with prestigious international partners and pursue joint research on a truly global stage.
“The University of Gadjah Mada (UGM) adds a valuable new dimension to the Universitas 21 network", says Katja Durkin, Head of Global Affairs at UZH. "As the largest and most diverse research-intense University in Indonesia, UGM is highly committed to sustainability, community service learning and multidisciplinary international collaboration to address global challenges. UGM will offer new opportunities to our students and staff, and a fresh perspective to the network."
With its Global Strategy 2030, UZH is dedicated to contribute to solutions for the most pressing global challenges. "A strong collaboration partner in Indonesia will support this shared goal", she underlines.
