Funding Instruments Supporting Travel Expenses

Through travel grants, UZH Graduate Campus supports postdocs and doctoral researchers of UZH in situations where academic mobility can make a decisive contribution to a promising academic career. The support is explicitly intended as a supplement to the existing measures of UZH.

The UZH Doc.Mobility fellowships enable doctoral researchers to conduct a part of their dissertation at a research institute abroad.

Doctoral students enrolled at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences can apply for a grant for research stays abroad of at least 2 weeks. Each of the eight Subject Boards of the Graduate School can award CHF 5,000 per year.

Doctoral students enrolled at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences can apply for a grant to cover the costs of various types of research trips, such as conferences, summer and winter schools, research stays, etc.

The fellowships include a grant for subsistence costs, a flat-rate for travel expenses and a possible contribution to research and conference costs.

The Neuroscience Center has limited funds available to finance its PhD student's travel expenses to conferences and meetings. Does cover travel, but not accommodation.

The Scientific Exchanges funding scheme is aimed at researchers planning to organise a scientific event in Switzerland, invite colleagues from abroad for a research visit to Switzerland, or visit their colleagues abroad.

Mobility grants are aimed at doctoral students who wish to improve their scientific profile by going abroad while being employed in an ongoing SNSF research project. A mobility grant can cover travel and living costs as well as fees for conferences and workshops of up to CHF 20,000.
